Designing and building a starlight
ceiling 3x3mtrs
A 3x3mtr, average height ceiling design provides a good model size for a star ceiling enabling the full capacity of one lightsource and harness to be used.
Frequently single size1 fibres are employed ,the ferruled ends being
fitted into ceiling bezel type CMBF11.
400 tails are divided over the 9sq mtrs
with a harness length of 3.5mtrs or 2 mtrs and the lightsource placed centrally.

The fibre points are usually distributed randomly although often with an additional "galaxy" or "comet " feature.
Although the smaller ceiling designs in size 1 are quite sufficient, more ambitious designs may require mixtures of fibre sizes, lenses and fittings.
A typical mixture will include 300 size 1 fibres and 30 size 4s and in larger designs a mixture of star lenses is included to add further dynamics and  randomness.
Colour wheels are often of the dark blue/

clear,`` twinkle'' design or occasionally include several blue green, pale yellow & pink tones when a more subtle, actual starlight effect is required.
The lightsources generally employed for starlight ceilings are the LS50CC 50 watt halogen lamp type for which a service hatch may be provided, alternatively the acoustic tile ceiling systems will simply require a tile lifting for lamp replacement.

Starcloth Systems
The starcloth system was designed and developed by PAR Opti Projects for theatre and TV and is equally in place in nightclubs and other entertainment venues.
Point density is similar to star ceilings with mostly size 1 fibres and sometimes sizes 1-4 mixed for variation.
The TDW/1 and TDW3/4 washer sets are
used to simply install the fibre ferrules in the front cloth, for installation purposes these are simply push-fit assembled requiring no further adhesives or even backing unless the cloth is intended to be portable in which case a glue gun and a backing cloth may be required to strengthen and protect the fibre harness.
Care must be taken not to over-stress the fibres in portable use thus ensuring a long service life.

Light sources are fitted at the top or bottom of the design according to requirement and in some cases in the centre of the design with the fibres "spidering out" allowing shorter runs and economy of materials.
